A Wedding Tale

Once upon a time there lived a lonely prince. Fickle and obdurate, he walked the lands, stopping at each village to partake in the festivities. Along this journey a young maiden caught his eye. "Stay with me,” she asked with blond locks dancing in the breeze, “and my heart will be yours.” The young prince became frightened and replied, “I cannot stay with you until my trek is achieved.”

With that he walked away leaving the beautiful maiden and her tears.

The seasons shuffled and soon word caught up to the obstinate prince. The maiden had delivered him a child, fair and blameless. Fear conquered him and the foolish prince ran.

Now in those days the world lay flat and a jaded soul often sought its edge, leaping to oblivion. Thus it was that the young prince ventured.

Now Love looked down upon the downtrodden prince and gazed deep into his heart. Seeing that which he had distraughtly hidden, she took pity on his soul and pleaded with the Fates. “Oh, Kindly Ones. He is but a frightened child. Shape the world round so I can endure.”

The Fates listened to Love’s plea and the world curved.

Now the young prince was unaware of his intermediary and continued to scurry across the plains. Soon his surroundings became known and the maiden and child stood before him with open arms. The young prince exclaimed, “How can this be? I fled and here you are to hold!”

At that, Love revealed herself and blessed all three. “I am with you and always shall be. Worries will come and tribulations will try to blind; remember me and all ill will vanish.”

With that, Love grew once again inside the maiden, turning child into sibling, maiden into wife, and prince into king, together forever, happily ever after.
